Year 5 - Willow Class
Welcome to Year 5
Dear Parents and Carers,
My name is Miss Walker and I am the class teacher, working with Miss Terri and
your children. I look forward to our year together and have outlined below some
important information to support your child at school.
Homework is stuck into children’s books every fortnight, on Friday but is expected
but is expected to be returned weekly on Thursday.
The homework that we send home supports the teaching and learning that has
taken place in class and will also inform you of what the children have been doing.
It will include one Math’s and English worksheet and spellings, for each week.
Children are expected to learn their spelling words for their spelling text, on
Reading books are sent out every week and is changed on a weekly basis or when
your child has completed their book. Reading records are also sent home to give
you the opportunity to note down the reading that has taken place.
Your child is expected to read each night and your support in this area is greatly
appreciated. Children have the opportunity to go to the school library
every Friday morning, where they can borrow books.
Your child has PE lessons on Wednesday and Friday.
Our school P.E. uniform at St. Jude’s is a white t-shirt, black shorts and black
plimsolls. Black tracksuit bottoms may also be worn and full tracksuits when doing

Monday. We will send it back every Friday.
