Welcome to Reception!
Welcome to our brand new school website! We have created the website to keep parents up to date with school news and notices, and to showcase some of the great things our pupils are achieving. The website is extremely easy to edit by all staff at the school, so check back soon for new updates!
My name is Miss M Williamson and I will be your child’s class teacher this year and working alongside me is Isha, my Nursery Nurse.
We’re looking forward to working with you and outline below some essential information to support your child at school. Our whole school topic for this term is Amazing People and our class is focusing on famous people with the names Stanley Berenstein, Stanley Kunitz, Stanley Stewart, Stanley F. Schmidt, Stanley Davis, Stanley Spencer, Stanley David Griggs, Stanley Amor Stella McCartney, Sidney Nolan, Claude Monet and Billy Graham. These are also the first names of the main characters in the books we are reading in English.
Homework is given out every Thursday and returned on Tuesday.
The homework that we send home supports the teaching and learning that has taken place in class and will also inform you of what the children have been doing.
Reading books are sent out every day and will be changed on a Thursday. Reading records are also sent home to give you the opportunity to note down the reading that has taken place.
Your child is expected to read for 10 minutes each night and your support in this area is greatly appreciated. Children can also take books from the class library on a weekly basis.
Our school P.E. uniform at St. Jude’s is a white t-shirt, black shorts and black plimsolls. Black tracksuit bottoms may also be worn and full tracksuits when doing P.E. outside.
It is extremely important that they come to school with the correct kit each week/ P.E will take place on Wednesday and Friday so kits can stay until Friday and then returned to be washed.
Please feel free to contact me if you have any additional questions. We hope that you child has an enjoyable time in Reception Class.
